We have an exciting fall coming up starting in September, after an eventful summer filled with concerts! We presented Yamandu Costa, João Bosco, and Gilsons, and we hosted our first annual Festa Junina with forró super band Forróçacana. We’ve spent the latter half of the summer strategizing and planning for the upcoming fall.
Sarau de Samba Series at Glen Echo Park
EducArte is proud to inaugurate our Saraus de Samba Series at Glen Echo Park starting in September. Set in the historic and family-friendly Glen Echo Park, our Sarau de Samba features a dynamic ensemble of skilled musicians and dancers, showcasing the diverse rhythms of samba, from Golden Age classics and choro to modern pagoda and high-energy carnival beats. We will start with a “preview” sarau as part of Glen Echo’s Social Dance Free-For-All event over Labor Day weekend and our first official Sarau de Samba will take place on Sunday, September 15.
Afro-Brazilian samba bateria and dance classes
We continue our samba bateria and dance classes in Silver Spring this fall! We have made some updates to our class schedule. Our bateria will now meet at 7:30-9 p.m., still at Levine Music in Silver Spring. Our dance class will now meet at 7:30-8:30 p.m. at Maryland Youth Ballet, just across the street from Levine Music. Registration is now open for both.
Luedji Luna
Tickets are on sale for Luedji Luna on Friday, October 4 at the F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre in Rockville, MD! Luedji is one of today’s most powerful Brazilian voices, combining sound styles from her native Salvador, Bahia, with neo-soul, R&B, and jazz.
