We are pleased to announce the launch of EducArte’s Brazilian Arts Academy, commencing Saturday, March 1st. This innovative program is designed to enrich the lives of Brazilian and Brazilian-American youth and families in Montgomery County and the Greater Washington DC area.
The Brazilian Arts Academy offers a unique educational experience, combining music education with Portuguese Heritage Language instruction. Tailored for students aged 8 to 13, this weekly program aims to foster self-esteem, creativity, and curiosity while strengthening ties to Brazilian culture and language.
Under the guidance of our instructor, Carlinhos Rangel, students will gain hands-on experience with Brazilian musical instruments and rhythms. They will learn culturally relevant songs from esteemed Brazilian composers, all while practicing and improving their Portuguese language skills.
Classes will be held every Saturday from 11 AM to 12 PM at Montgomery College’s Rockville campus, running from March 1st to April 5th. This six-week program promises to be an immersive and enriching experience for all participants.
The launch of the Brazilian Arts Academy represents a significant step in our commitment to preserving and celebrating Brazilian heritage in our community. By intertwining language learning with music and cultural arts, we’re creating a dynamic environment where young learners can connect with their roots and express themselves creatively.
Spaces for this inaugural semester are limited, and registration is required. Registration closes on Tuesday, February 25. For more information and to register, please visit our Brazilian Arts Academy page.
This program is supported in part by Crescent Cities Charities.
