Percussive dance workshop with Soles of Duende

October 12 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Join us for a special percussive dance community engagement workshop with Soles of Duende on Saturday, October 12 at 2-3 p.m. at CityDance in Friendship Heights!

The all-female multicultural percussive trio will offer an immersive group class experience on creative expression through migrational dance forms, centering creative conversation through music and movement.

Soles of Duende members will teach foundational movement vocabulary from Kathak, Flamenco, and Tap and will guide students in the process of creating musical dialogue with these forms.

Soles of Duende will perform later in the evening at Publick Playhouse in Cheverly, MD. Learn more and buy tickets here.

Space is limited; free registration is required. Note: Admission for registered participants will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis. Five minutes before the workshop start time, we will open admission to the waiting list and cannot guarantee a spot for you in the class.

This community engagement event is made possible through funding from the Center for Cultural Vibrancy and a partnership with CityDance.

About Soles of Duende

A Brooklyn-born Puerto-Rican from New Haven, a Mexican Puerto-Rican Jew from the Lower East Side, and a Bengali Indian from Jersey walked onto the wooden floor & the rest? History. Bonded by their deep love of music, their crafts, and true connection, Soles of Duende is on a lifelong mission to elevate the joy and music of true collaboration across disciplines and the celebration of the forms they practice. Based in the sounds of Tap (Amanda Castro), Flamenco (Arielle Rosales) and Kathak (Brinda Guha), Soles of Duende’s fire is the spirit that lives within each of these women to celebrate their connection given their beautiful differences and to uplift the forms that made them.
