Our mission

EducArte’s mission is to ensure equity in the performing arts and arts education for Latin American communities in the Greater Washington DC region, with a focus on Brazilian cultural arts.

Our vision

We envision a vibrant arts community where Latin American artists and educators are equitably represented and free to explore and innovate their rich cultural traditions, reflecting the demographic makeup and aesthetic values of our local audiences.

Our values

Our guiding values are to elevate equity and diversity in the arts, pay artists fairly, build community through creativity, and respect all cultural traditions equally. We approach our projects and community with a deep commitment to social justice, equity, inclusion, and equality.

Our work

We offer educational programs that promote and support local and visiting artists. Our work sparks cross-cultural communication through classes, workshops, concerts, lectures, discussions, and community events in the Greater Washington DC region.

Our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion

EducArte values and celebrates diversity. Central to our mission is the representation of cultural practices of historically marginalized communities through our educational programming. We define diversity in terms of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, ability, and class, as well as life experiences, educational background, and artistic research and practice. Our organization is committed to creating an inclusive, non-discriminatory environment, and we adopt equitable practices in both our programming and within our internal team. We are also committed to ensuring that our board and administrative team includes people from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
